The Trustees of the Education Trust of Graduate Women NSW Inc. invite applications for the Joan
Bielski AO Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is available every three years for woman aged 35
years and over, who can demonstrate hardship. The aim of this scholarship is to enable a mature
woman to attend any university in NSW or ACT for the first time and complete a first degree
full time. The award is provided from a bequest by the late Joan Bielski AO.
Value: $12,000 per annum for up to 3 years.
Eligibility:
- Female
- 35 years and over
- Attending any course for any degree at any university listed on the Australian universities list with campuses in NSW or ACT for the first time.
- Must be an Australian citizen or have permanent residency in Australia and give proof.
DUE: APRIL 2ND 2026
No applications will be considered after this date.
Documents required:
- Scanned copy (pdf) of proof of enrolment in year of application.
- Scanned copy (pdf) of original of first semester university results.
- Proof of any Financial Hardship. (Essential prerequisite) – Can include Centrelink means-tested support payment or any other evidence of enduring financial hardship.
- SINGLE A4 PAGE SUMMARY: Please include educational history to date, reasons for wanting to attend university and outline why it has proved impossible before now (please list any specific disadvantages including carer responsibilities, disrupted schooling, disability, etc). Also include what difference you hope a university education and degree will make to your life and future.
- Scanned copy (pdf) or image of proof of citizenship or permanent resident status e.g. extract of birth entry, passport, visa, certificate of citizenship.
