This lecture is held annually in acknowledement of Sophia Holland nee Brown (1871 – 1949). Sophia was the mother of Majorie Murray nee Holland (1899 – 1917) who bequeathed a generous sum of money to be administed by the university, which provides funds for the current office and office staff. A condtion of her will was that the AFGW NSW acknowledge her mother.
